Hey Mosaic Family!
Picture this: You are about to go on a trip that you have planned out down to the minute. As you are headed to the airport, you are confirming the plans that you have made with your friends who live in Japan. A schedule that was created to get the most out of a once in a lifetime trip. A schedule that kicks off with a whole day at Tokyo Disney: you have your flights booked, park passes booked, airbnb booked, and a whole itinerary set in place for that day specifically. As you look at your ticket to confirm your arrival time, something catches your eye: a simple one number difference. What you believed to be 09/11/2024 at 14:50 actually says 09/12/2024 14:50.
As I write this newsletter, I am sitting in the DFW airport about to hop on a plane to San Jose, and then a connecting flight to Tokyo, Japan. While my father was driving me to the airport, the scenario as described above played out. As you can imagine, at first I began to panic, mentally trying to work through a solution to this problem. The mental gymnastics ensued- as I said bye to my Dad, as I went through security, as I arrived at my gate, until I sat down. A thought crossed my mind as I blankly stared at the person sitting in the seat across from me at the gate: Be still. As I prayed to silence my mind, I started thinking about the MK Elementary curriculum and I began to reflect on the promises of God. We have a God who promises to always and only do good for His children. In these moments, I can easily forget that this truth is applied in the little moments of life, just as much as the large ones.
“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ
Jesus.” -Phillipians 4:19
Paul is reminding the Church of Philippi of God’s provision in this Scripture: a simple truth that is easily forgotten in the midst of our worries and concerns. Even when things don’t go the way that we hope, God is still providing for our every need. In this truth, I can find peace in my moments of panic and plans gone awry because it is a guarantee, a promise, and God does not fault on his guarantees or promises.
“So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the
unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two
unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled refuge
might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. We have this as a
sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the
curtain,” -Hebrews 6:17-19
I found a peace, that can only be explained by Christ, in remembering these truths today. I hope this letter can serve as a simple reminder that our God is constant, unchanging, unwavering, and has nothing but good in store for you and I.
In Christ,
Garrett Snyder
