For the past few months, the Mosaic staff and elders have taken every opportunity to remind you about and prepare you for our annual service day, Help Your Neighbor Day (HYND).
For those of you who have missed these alerts, let me just put it all in front of you one more time:
Each year, Mosaic marks a day to do what we hope to do all year long: serve our neighbors to show them the love of God. We call this day Help Your Neighbor Day and it is a day in which 450+ men, women, and children from Mosaic scatter throughout Richardson to serve, love, and evangelize to our beloved city. This year, we will celebrate HYND 2025 on Sunday, May 18th.
In our announcements to you, we have emphasized three key elements that will make this year’s HYND a little different than years passed.
Firstly, it is on a Sunday - not a Saturday.
Secondly, before we serve, we will gather together for an abbreviated worship service at the Worship Center at 9am - not at 10am.
Thirdly, We will scatter to serve until 12:30 at which point we will re-gather at the Worship Center for a free meal and party from 1:00 - 2:30pm.
In previous iterations of HYND, you have used the online registration form to sign up for projects. However, in an effort to continue to strengthen our communal witness to Richardson, we are asking each of you to identify group-based, neighborhood-specific projects to provide meaningful service and evangelism right near your homes to foster an ongoing relationship with your neighbors.
For information on how exactly we want you to participate this year VIEW THIS FORM. From the bottom of my heart, please please please actually click this link and look through that document, it will be very helpful to you.
As you begin to identify these projects and communicate with your neighbors, give them THIS FLYER so they can better understand what HYND is and how we hope to serve them.
Family, I know this can be awkward and sometimes uncomfortable, but think of Christ. Think of Jesus leaving His place of comfort at the right hand of the majesty on high to take on flesh and do the evangelistic work of serving us. It was a sacrificial work, it was a painstaking work, but it was a glorious work. When Jesus stepped into the difficulty of human flesh he did so because he knew that his service to us would bring great benefit for the kingdom.
Let this day be a day where you participate in Christ by stepping into discomfort to serve others through Gospel witness in word and deed. I love y’all and I am so proud of the way you are already doing this. I cannot wait to see the way the Lord uses this day for our church and His Kingdom.
