Walking in Good Works

Ephesians 2:10, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

We don’t obey to earn God’s grace, but God does invite us into walking in the path of good works. And why would we do this? Because when we walk in this way, we get to enjoy more of what God has for us in Jesus.

Obedience is costly, but it is the path to getting to enjoy the depths of joyful fellowship with Christ.

→ Where do you struggle in walking in good works?

→ What temptation to sin is most difficult to deny?

“God, I know your love for me isn’t conditional on obedience. I am saved by grace through faith in Christ, but I hear you say that obedience is the better way. I desire to obey, but I so often struggle with temptation, shame, or apathy. Would you increase my desire to walk in the good works you have prepared for me?”

Prayer Points

  • Adoration: Praise God that He is gracious.

  • Confession: Confess where you are prone to sin.

  • Thanksgiving: Give thanks that Jesus has been perfect on your behalf.

  • Supplication: Ask the Spirit to give you freedom from sin and joy in obedience.
